The level of "attention" given by the dev should raise the price slightly more. I really can see a future for this game, with DLCs, expansions and maybe, who knows? More years after the Iron Age? Considering the release date of Planetbase (2015) and the last update is from dec/2018, we should be safe for some years, for real. This launch version come with a lot of scenarios with different difficulties giving us many hours of play. There is a lot of buildings to construct and the game have some of "resource chain production" inside. You can zone areas for specifics jobs for example and change the settings for each "function". The game is really designed to facilitate our lives. Could be a little better.Īn interesting aspect of the game is the "management" stuff. Remember a little the Stronghold mechanics, but more simple of course (is not the main objective of the game). There is a secondary combat system, you can build fortifications, towers, weapons. You can farm, grow your vegetables and even domesticate animals to produce food and other resources. The research system is very interesting, every action that your "tribe" do, you gain "knowledgement points", to gain a new tech, spend your points in to new technologies. You start literally like with a "caveman" tribe and you have to survive 10k years. The game brings some new things too and new ways of doing things (more on that lather), but technological research (from the Paleolithic Era to the Iron Age) covering 10k years of human developing. But all this we already know from others games. You can collect resources, hunt animals (with all the challenges), gather resources from the environment (water, fruits, wood, flint, stone, iron, etc), make tools, plan your survival for harsh winters, this kind of stuff. Well, if you know Banished is all about (almost) the same thing. They put a manual inside, with helps a lot, all very good described with a very beautiful and organized UI. You can see that the dev paid attention to every detail, menus, UI's, graphics, the art, the color palette, and even the music. Dawn of Man removed my fear in the main menu. Is always my first tough in the process buying/not buy/wait more. I confess that i have afraid of shallow games and poor attention given from the dev. Is a evolution in every way in the concept, creating new forms of doing the same old things, creating mechanisms to avoid overwhelming micromanagement if you want and presented with a very good graphics without burning your graphic card. If you like Banished, you gonna love Dawn of Man. Stellaris is on my mind like Age Of Empires was in the past.Īfter so many deceptions on the last 3 or 4 years, specially with Early Access games and devs going to bankruptcy even before launching some random promise, Dawn of Man have the potential to be the first Overwhelming Positive from this dev. But, i'm so addicted on Paradox games that i create a very high profile and standard for my strategy games (or 4X) but this is a subject for another post. Planetbase showed for me after Surviving Mars and i forgot to buy this one, he have Very Positive reviews too. I was a little worried because i never played anything from Madruga Works. Great potential, poor after launch support. This kind of game if always my first choice of playing (duh, we are here on Tycoon sub) and Banished was a great surprise on the time but unfortunately got abandoned by the dev. The game was released today(!) and i did bought because was on my wish-list on Steam. Where to begin? First, sorry about my bad english.
